perennial past and present
In 2021, I created a number of change of season themed works in a series named Perennial. These 6x6 inch mixed media pieces, pictured below, were the smallest in the series. Each piece depicts a state of rest or reach. Spring is arriving in Indiana and I am happy to be finding little rosettes of green pushing their way through the rich brown soil and blanket of last year’s fallen tree leaves. This imagery is powerful inspiration. I am a bit of a winter social hibernator by nature.
While in hibernation, I spent a good amount of time with family, nature, books, worry, fabric and thread and my website. I thought a lot about using this blog space more regularly and today I just happened to jump in and find a draft version of this post started quite a while ago. I like the way it serendipitously aligns with today.
I am so grateful to live where the arrival of spring is such a change and begins with such striking green. Big picture worry momentarily fades when I land my winter weary eyes on all the unfurling. Early spring wakes up both powerfully and quietly. The palpable color and energy in this season is truly one of my favorite things. The return of the buzz and movement of bees and butterflies will be next.
